Coming into this world with all our old karma from last life and not being consciously aware of what is happening....this appears to be how most of us start our life on earth. Our instincts, our "ego" want to survive and yet we totally dependent on others for our survival. No one told us, since they probably did not know, that we have choices here. That we can be more than an animal operating on instinct alone, that we have the opportunity here to transcend our fear and choose Love instead. Notice, those animals such as dogs who are loving are more likely to end up in better places. Notice we can train our "pet" nature to be more loving and appreciative.
We appreciate having a body because it is easier to learn the lessons we came here to learn with a body, ie. our pet. Dr. David R. Hawkins suggested that we think of our ego self, our body as our pet because we do not need to make it wrong nor do we need to condemn it for getting us into so much trouble. We just need to learn how to manage our own ego pet and choose to transcend it in order to evolve and fulfull our Divine potential as Infinite Joy, Love and Peace. Only by being aware of our pet nature can we opt out of being our pet. Gradually we can transcend our ego instincts and thus gain another brain. See Dr. Hawkins explanations in Truth versus Falsehood, How to Tell the Difference.(http://www.veritaspub.com)
My pet likes to overeat. My pet likes to do whatever it likes to do, rather than do what needs to be done sometimes. My pet is very messy. My pet like to be right and dominating. That is how it gets it way and be heard. My pet loves to be contrarian to be devil's advocate. How about your pet?
Yeah, my pet also like to overeat, it is its instinctive response to images of delicious food. It is hard to reprogram its awareness to more spiritual images like beauty and natural scenery.
Yes, my pet like to bark loud instinctively and it forgets to tone down its volume. My pet also just assumes it is right just because it thinks so without being aware of many other equally vaid viewpoints or even new scientific research which supercedes previous notions.
Yes, my pet like to be treated like royalty, likes to be recognized for being good, etc.
Yes, it seems we share common ego pet characteristics.
Without awareness, we are often automatically our "pet" selves and sometimes we may be our "Spirit"...however, if we have a choice of whether to be or not to be our pet or our Spirit, then it appears we are the decision-maker or co-creator (with God or Source) or "chooser" of who or what we want to be. We have a choice of how we wish to co-create ourselves. That is an important and interesting project, ie. doing inner work with our ABCallies. It raises the question of what we want to experience in our lives.
If we want to continue to experience fear, anger, frustration, stress, then it may be OK to continue to be our pet self. The quality of our awareness and our energy do affect those around us at work and at home, whether or not we are aware of this.
If we want to experiment with new and happier experiences, we might consider thinking with appreciation and posting more appreciations everywhere, giving abundantly and see what changes.
Maybe Debra Hayes who did post thousands of appreciations on http://dailyappreciations.net could share what happened and how the quality of her life has changed.
